What is a moment worth?

The sun was shining through the clouds in the cool morning, and the car was gently idling beneath me. My daughter was running inside to proudly display her Halloween costume to her friends. My son in his tiger costume had fallen asleep and was gently woken as my wife lifted him into her arms.

A hundred thoughts were racing through my mind of the calls, emails, work, tasks, bills, etc. that I have to take care of in the little time that I have today. Will that payment come in today? Will that new client sign up today? Can I pull that flailing deal out of the fire?

I said goodbye to my wife and sleepy son, and she turned to carry him into the building as I prepared to drive away. As I prepared to back out and drive away, several things happened all at once... as they often do.

The music I was ignoring suddenly swelled...

My thoughts cleared...

The sun came through the clouds even brighter...

The sleepy little tiger began waving his paw at me...

My heart swelled...

The realization struck me that this was one of those fleeting moments that I came here to experience. The joy, the pain, the challenge, the triumph, the love... all of this was part of this grand game that I came to play, and this moment was the reason why. This is why I work so hard, and why I try to continue growing. This is what makes the whole experience worth the effort.

This moment has infinite value.

Of course, the truth is that this moment always has infinite value. From the highest to the lowest, each moment is precious and beautiful. The challenge is overcoming the immediate concerns of the game so that we can lift our head and actually SEE.... above all else, I wish to see.

This moment is a precious gift from the Source. A reminder to look up end enjoy more often, because all of those other things are secondary to the true goal of life. We are here to have fun, create and enjoy every second of the ride.

And if you happen to lose your way, just remember that there is a sleepy little tiger out there somewhere waving to you with his heart full of love and joy.
